After the configuring the management ip address,it needs to be licensed. This requires a base registration key of 27-character long string stored in a the /config/regKey.license file, which uniquely identifies the device.
The registration key is presented in the following format
AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEEEE
The BIG_IP system uses the base registration key to generate what is known as a dossier, which is what is actually passed to the F5's license server. The dosssier contains numerous encrypted characters that uniquely identify your system.Multiple options are stored in the dossier including registration key and the system time.
we have two ways do license in BIG-IP System
1.Automatic License Activation
2.Manual License Activation
1.Automatic License Activation:--
The BIG-IP device needs internet access to reach the F5 licensing servers.
2.Manual License Activation:--
This method is used twhen the BIG-IP device does not have direct access to the internet.
